“I’d take a bullet for you!” They say that in the movies and yes, some people say that in real life. That level of loyalty and allegiance is admirable, and it is usually won by someone who has earned a great deal of trust.
To be willing to die for another person is probably the greatest sacrifice a human can do for another human. It happens all the time when nations are at war. Men and women lay down their lives in battle to defend the freedom of others. On occasion they go the extra mile and defend their own fellow soldiers at the cost of their own life. We remember those from Canada and our allies who in the past paid that ultimate price many years ago to keep Canada strong and free. Here’s a twist … what if those they were dying for were unworthy or worse yet their enemy? Well, that’s what God did. Listen to this, “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus took a bullet for us! Yup, He died on the cross for our sin while we were rebellious, unworthy, vile enemies of His. Now that is love in action!
