Sometimes people make extraordinary claims about their accomplishments or even about themselves. For example, a boxer who danced like a butterfly and stung like a bee said he was the greatest boxer in the world.
Neil Armstrong’s claim to fame was out of this world … literally! Well, another giant leap for mankind was when one dude said, “I am the way, the truth and the life!” He said no one could come to Father God except through Him. Now that’s quite a claim to fame, so the question remains does He have what it takes to back up that claim. Josh McDowell in his book, “Evidence That Demands a Verdict” says that Jesus was either a Legend, a Liar, a Lunatic or Lord. So making a claim to be the Way, the Truth and the Life puts you in the hot seat and on trial to see if there is reality to that audacious statement. History shows He wasn’t a legend. Ok, true on that account. Did He lie? If He told a lie and truly believed the lie then He is both liar and lunatic so we are off the hook in trusting Him.
However, He did everything He said He would and could do, even to the point of coming back from the dead after being crucified. He told us He was giving His life to ransom us to bring us back to God. I’m willing to trust a guy who raises from the grave … how about you?
