Today marks the day before the last day of the year. I look forward to the new year and all the possibilities it may bring, but for me, today is a day for a bit of reflection.
“In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus our Lord!” With that in mind, have I been thankful throughout the year? Even if things didn’t turn out the way I thought they should, or hoped they would I can still say, “thanks be to God for every good and perfect thing!” I can bless the Lord at all times and His praise can continually be in my mouth because once again this year has proved that God certainly leads our lives in wonderful and mysterious ways. Along the way this year there were turns, bumps and bends in the road and lots of unexpected situations. None of them indicated the end of the journey but only a bend in the road which might have temporarily obscured the destiny ahead. So, we press forward in the scope of God’s agenda trusting Him to guide our steps and provide for the journey ahead. I’m thankful for my God and Saviour Jesus Christ whom we just remembered His first advent and look forward with joy, purity of heart and expectation of His second advent.
I thank Him for family and friends, trials and victories, beginnings and endings and the knowledge of His love and grace which surpasses understanding.
