Any insight into the nature and character of God that Jesus would give us would appear to me to be extremely beneficial. I asked myself a question one time that led to a series of messages.
It was, “What were the ten most important things Jesus said or taught?” At first this appeared to be a daunting task because He said so many important things on so many subjects, so where would you start? By asking myself a series of questions I came to the conclusion that what Jesus said about God and most specifically the Father would be of utmost importance. If we are messed up in our view of the Most High then it’s likely we get everything else down the line messed up as well. So what did Jesus tell us about the Father? Here’s one really important tidbit. “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” Wow, that’s insightful! No, seriously, take a good look at what Jesus is saying. The Father is seeking worshippers. Why, because He’s an egotistical, self-aggrandizing maniac? No, true worshippers seek to honor the highest, the best, the most noble, the purest and most Holy.
Worship of anyone or anything less than the Father is simply idolatry (and a waste of time). The heart of the Father is to lead you home to the place of peace and truth where your heart will worship.
