Where do weeds come from? I really don’t like weeds and I never planted them, so how come there are so many weeds in my garden. Maybe my neighbour put them there because he thinks my garden is better than his. He’s got no weeds! Weeds survive – did you ever notice that? A severe drought happens and the weeds just sit there. Finally, when a rain comes, the ground gets soft again, and guess what? The weeds come back in full force!

One weed has thousands of seeds and they all grow and produce thousands of weeds! What’s worse is they have long deep roots and it seems so difficult to pull them out! Is there a spiritual point to all this or am I just complaining? Yes, I’m just having some fun, but there is a crucial point. Paul said, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

We can allow spiritual weeds in our heart and life which can choke out the good fruit the Holy Spirit desires to grow. You have a choice as to what gets planted in your heart and thought life. If you plant from the spirit then you will harvest a spiritual crop that is well pleasing to the Lord.
