Those two dudes I mentioned last time (Cleopas and his friend) went running to Jerusalem to tell the others that they had seen Jesus. Suddenly, Jesus appears! His first words to His followers were, “Peace to you!”
Wow, troubled hearts need to hear those words and experience the power of peace. Guess what? Some still doubted, and why shouldn’t they? This man Jesus had died one of the cruelest deaths known to mankind. Could He truly be alive or were they all seeing a ghost? After all, people don’t generally come back from the dead!
Here’s what Luke says happened next, “He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. And He took it and ate in their presence. (Luke 24:38-43).
Luke would later write the book of Acts and say “through much convincing evidence He showed Himself alive!” He allowed them to touch Him and then He ate some food. So, He’s not a ghost!
